Pilates Center™ of Maine founder, Tünde Schwartz (the “u” sound is similar to that of “push”), is certified in Authentic Pilates™ and has over 25 years experience in the fitness industry.
The Pilates Center of Maine focuses on teaching the Authentic Pilates Method™, a system of exercises designed to improve flexibility and strength through a total body workout. Authentic Pilates™ follows the methods created by Joseph Pilates and is a series of controlled movements engaging your body and mind, performed on specifically designed exercise apparatus and supervised by extensively trained Pilates teachers. In 2011, the Pilates center of Maine was certified as a Teacher Training Host Center, which brings students from all over New England for their own Pilates certification or instructor workshops.
In the past 15 years, Pilates exercises have been adapted to mat workouts in order to expand the benefits of Pilates to a wider audience, making Pilates an excellent exercise for beginning students to advanced. Pilates workouts focus on developing strength through the core of the body – the abdomen, back and hips.
